Reporting to the Director of Harris Family Children Center, the new Substitute Teacher is responsible for working with all childcare center teachers to create a warm and caring environment for young children meeting the social, emotional, intellectual and physical needs of each child. Focus areas include supervising all activities indoors and out in order to ensure the safety and the well-being of each child. Among other responsibilities, the Substitute teacher communicates with parents regarding their child’s activities during the day, resolves problems or concerns that may arise, changes diapers and clothing following center protocol, and models and encourages cooperative behavior among the children.
The successful candidate will have previous experience with infants, toddlers, and pre-school, kindergarten and/or elementary school age children. Associates or bachelor’s degree with at least nine credits in early childhood education/development including three credits in human growth and development and at least three years of experience working with infants and young children preferred. Candidate must have CPR and First Aid training or be willing to get certification.
